The prep continues!

I love my job!! Have I said that lately??? I have had such a great few weeks and every day I'm so thankful that I do what I do.
January was such a busy month! I was lucky enough to be able to go to Virginia for Chelsey Cooleys StandOut retreat and I got to meet so many of the 2010 Miss and Teens. We took part in rollerskateing, paintball, horsebackriding and many others. I was unfortunatly really sick during my time there and spent most of my time in bed asleep, but the few activities I was able to participate in were a blast!
Meeting all the girls just made me realize how special this Organization is. Every single girl is so motivated, well- spoken, educated and beautiful. Im honored every day to be in this elite group.

I am one of the lucky 7 girls that was able to take part in an amazing experience of filming the reality series for http://www.mrkd.tv/
BGirls follows Miss/Teen Idaho USA, Miss/Teen Nevada USA, Miss/Teen Virginia USA and Miss Washington Teen USA
Airing 8 webisodes in April-May, the show follows us through various challanges and our daily challanges we face as we prepare for the biggest competition of our lives. I highly encourage you to bookmark http://www.mrkd.tv/ and watch each episode. Its going to be a great show.
Not only did I have a great week filming for BGirls but I also got to know each of these ladies very well. Samantha and Jessca will be competing with me in May and they truly are beautiful inside and out... I know it sounds cliche but we had such blast filming and Ill be excited to see them in May.

I also, for the first time, was able to spend significant time with my teen, Audrey Denison. She is one spectacular and motivated young lady. She is definitely a role model for all girls to look up to. Im so proud to have her as my sister queen for the year:)

During the week of filming. I also got to attend Miss America. I had been looking forward to seeing some of my MAO sisters all year... I also finally got to see Katie Stam in person and talk with her for a moment! I hadnt seen her since she was crowned so I was so happy to see her. It teared up as I hugged her and congratulated her on an incredible year of service. She made our 2oo9 class so proud.
I also ran into a few of my MAO sisters! Alaska and Oregon were there night 2 and I saw a few others over the next few days as well! I love those girls!
For Valentines Day, Audrey and I visited the Sunrise Childrens Hospital and made Valentines with some of the patients. We helped them make valentines for their parents and their nurses. It was so wonderful to be able to do something special for these little patients. They enjoyed every moment and we did too:)

Nonstop!!
Thats the only way to describe the last few weeks!!! It has been such a whirlwind of Photoshoots, appearances, moving, preparation, etc...
I had the honor of attending the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony for the winter games. I always love being around this group because they make you forget any cares you may have in the world with one smile your way. The love they radiate for everyone and the joy they have for the simplest things in life would make anyones heart smile.

I had a wonderful time shooting with the INCREDIBLE Eric Ita.... thank you for the beautiful images!

I am now an official Las Vegas resident with very big thanks to Juhl and Citymark Properties. I spent the few days after New Years preparing to move down and am finally all settled in my new home! This is the first time I have been on my own entirely. I had roomates in college and I have to say I am enjoying my new loft apartment all to myself! Thank you to everyone that made that happen! I am one blessed Miss NV :)

I have a busy few months ahead... The countdown is on with less then 3 months to THE BIG DAY!

I cant wait to make Nevada proud!

Its finally setting in....

It has been such a great last few weeks and it's finally set in that I am going to compete at Miss USA in April! I am so lucky and I am so grateful every day that I have been given this opportunity.

Last week, I took another trip down to Las Vegas. I drove the 8 hour drive and I am always amazed, my state truly is beautiful. When people think of Nevada, they automatically think of Las Vegas and the desert. As I take that drive, its so much more... with so much history and character. The mountains and the view on the highway can truly take your breath away.

I had the chance to see Miss California USA 2010 be crowned. It was an experience to see another states pageant and how they do things.... There were over 130 girls competing for the Miss title. In the end, Nicole Johnson walked away with the crown. She is beautiful and so sweet! Congrats Nicole!! I also got to meet Crystle Stewert.. She is stunning!

With the holiday season just around the corner I've also been able to do a few appearances. I was able to be a part of something very special. I helped pack some care packages for Nevada troops that will be gone during this special time of year. The first lady, Dawn Gibbons and I went to GE in Minden to add a special touch to the troops packages and to be included in a video message that will be sent over.

This year they over doubled their package needs to over 700. Up from about 300 over the last few years. GE employees themselves are resposible for getting donations of food items, toiletries, reading materials and DVDs. A big thank you to them for all of their efforts and for giving back to those that give everything for us..... <3

I attended the Golden Nuggets Rush Tower grand opening on the 23rd... What a great event that was!! A beautiful tower with amazing restaurants and so much fun! I chatted with the mayor and shared the stage with some beautiful showgirls as he and the owner cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the tower. I enjoyed meeting everyone there and seeing some familiar faces as well...

On Thanksgiving day, I went to Carson City and volunteered my time with the Carson City Nugget. They do a nice Thanksgiving dinner for the community every year. I served gravy and talked to people, got them water or tea (or extra gravy if thats what they wanted:) So many were so thankful to just have a place to go and feel like they mattered. Some came alone and some came with their family... It was so nice to see that even in hard times, people reach out to one another...... A big thank you to the Carson City Nugget for all they do. I am hoping to return to serve on Christmas day as well....

I spent my Thanksgiving and the weekend with the ones that matter most in my life. I have truly been blessed and I couldnt write a blog long enough that could hold the list of all that I am grateful for. Thank you for all in my life that support me and my endeavors and for those that are just there to listen and lend an ear..... <3

A new journey!

Wow... What a last few weeks its been!

I went to Transylvania and Hungary to see family, then went to Florida for two weeks. I then came home for 4 days only to pack up and prepare for a journey to Las Vegas in the quest to be Miss Nevada USA 2010. I competed for a chance to represent my silver state once more...

And

I WON!

I still cant believe it... I truly feel so blessed. I love my state and I am so happy that I will be the home state girl once again in a national pageant.

I have the most wonderful director and such a beautiful Miss Nevada Teen to share this journey with.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me endlessly. I love you.. You know who you are.

With gratitude,

Julz
